Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is a four-season destination resort and meeting center. The 900-acre (360 ha) property is located in Acme, Michigan, situated in the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, along the shores of Lake Michigan. The Resort is approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) northeast of Traverse City and 10-minutes from Traverse City's Cherry Capital Airport (TVC).

Lodging

The resort consists of 600 rooms, suites and condominiums. The 17-story tower contains 186 rooms and suites and the six-story hotel includes 238 rooms. The 176 condominiums are located in several complexes along the fairways of two golf courses and near the shores of Lake Michigan.

Meetings and events

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa includes 86,500 square feet (8,040 m2) of meeting space. Governors' Hall is the largest meeting facility with 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2). Governors' Hall is so named because the first meeting held in it was the 1987 National Governors Association Summer Meeting, when then Arkansas Governor, Bill Clinton was the chair. The Resort also hosted the 2007 National Governors Association when Janet Napolitano was the chair.

Golf

The Resort has three 18-hole championship golf courses which includes the Bear, the Wolverine & Spruce Run. The Bear opened in 1985 and was the first Jack Nicklaus signature course in Michigan. The Wolverine, designed by Gary Player opened in June 1999 and Spruce Run, redesigned by William Newcomb, opened in 1979. Six-time Michigan Open champion and 2008 PGA Professional National Champion, Scott Hebert, is the Head Golf Pro and Director of Instruction at the 2,000 square feet (190 m2) indoor/outdoor Golf Academy.

Dining

The resort has four restaurants on-property. Aerie Restaurant & Lounge, located on the 16th floor of the tower. The restaurant is well known for its views of the property and Lake Michigan.

History and ownership

The six-story hotel opened in 1980 as the Grand Traverse Hilton. The 17-story tower opened in 1986. Grand Traverse Resort & Spa was acquired by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians on March 31, 2003.
